Carbon is an excellent filtration media when used under the right conditions, such as, in a point-of-use drinking filter. However, carbon filters are designed to filter cold tap water (60°F - 75°F) under much different conditions than found with steaming hot shower water (85°F- 105°F). Carbon is a cold water filter effective at temperature ranges of 45°F - 75°F, carbon is not effective for hot water shower filters.
